It isn’t every day that you are able to step into a stranger’s life and watch the most intimate moments unravel between two people. Better yet-imagine doing so on the day of a marriage proposal.

Derek contacted me asking if I would help him document each moment leading up to his marriage proposal. The two met four years ago while abroad in Spain and had spent every moment together since.Derek wanted to surprise Kristarose with documentation of their entire afternoon together.

Yes, this entailed me stalking him and his fiance to-be before and during their walk through the commons. Camera gear in hand, Derek and I agreed upon a route they would walk, spots to stop at, hand signals, etc. I decided not to go all out in camouflage attire despite temptation but instead pretended to be photographing a doggy play group.

All went according to plan and Kristarose had absolutely no idea what was in store for her. As Derek and Kristarose finally made it to the top of a hill overlooking Boston’s beautiful skyline, Derek dropped to one knee. The plan had been for Derek to set out a blanket and picnic but the storm brewing had other plans for the two. Thunder and rain instantly followed suit in an encore of their merriment. Kristarose and Derek would soon begin their life together.

Soon after I introduced myself and Kristarose regained composure, we rushed to the gazebo for shelter from the storm and to allow them to continue their kissing and celebrations.
